Searching or doing the Scripture

Quoting God’s word is good but the best way to activate God’s blessing upon one’s life is by working according to His word (in the principle and guidelines God has set down for us).
..He who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does (James 1:25). It is painstaking learning the word offhand but the previous verses (23-24) likened checking the word without doing it as someone checking the mirror without taking time to observe and make amend to errors and areas that need to be touched up in one’s life. Some of us quote the scriptures to God as if God does not know His word or that God is deaf to our plea and appeal. Gods words cannot be broken (John 10:35), working in the light of His word which is His will automatically activates the blessings attached to it. God honours His word than His name (Psalm 138:2c). According to John 5: 39, the scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees etc. searched the scriptures everyday thinking it was in the searching of the scripture that they could find eternal life but when the person who was eternal life came, they did not believe. They were merely searching the scripture for head knowledge because if truly they were searching the scripture for eternal life, their search would have ended the day Jesus appeared but alas that was not the case as they were all in pursuit of self-desire, self-righteousness and praise from men. How many of us quote the scriptures to impress men. How many of us do that for self-gain or to appear spiritual. The scriptures point to the person and owner of eternal life and that is the primary purpose of God’s word, while every other thing lie Physical blessings, material blessings etc. follows when the primary purpose of the word is fulfilled in our lives. Let the word lead you to the giver of life and not the bonuses attached to following the word, thus bonuses are activated once there is compliance.
Peace
